Mr. Navecky, My concern with this railroad project is the size of the intended rail yard. Which would be the largest railyard in the United States by a vast measure. What is the necessity for a rail yard that big, when not a single Class 1 Railroad has committed to using this railroad. Is this a land grab for development? If so, then this is an abuse of eminent domain. That railyard would destroy an entire township, which in turn would destroy the Grant Park, IL school district. The school district is comprised of two townships Yellowhead and Sumner. Sumner township would be decimated by the railyard. So not only would this railyard destroy Farm land, natural resources, state parks, churches, cemetaries, businesses and homes, BUT SCHOOLS!!!! This project should not receive any type of exemption and the project should be stopped NOW! Several politicians and elected county boards have opposed this project.
