We have property planted in alfalfa, as do our neighbors. We live within 1/2 mile of the proposed railway. My concern is that bees are affected by diesel fumes. Bees are essential for alfalfa pollination, clover, apples, peaches, pears, and many many other fruits and vegetables. And diesel fumes prevent the bees from smelling the flowers, therefore no pollination, no food for the bees, and the bees are dying. We already are experiencing the death of bee colonies, and someone is proposing to add more diesel fumes in an area where pollination of crops is essential? Kankakee county is a leading producer in many agricultural commodities. Not to mention the native plants and flowers in the Kankakee State Park that are dependent upon bees. Please ensure that a very thorough investigation and research is conducted prior to any decisions regarding this railroad that nobody in this county wants. thank you.
