Mr. Navecky I am a farmer in western Kankakee County, Illinois. The proposed line does not go through any real estate owned or farmed by me. But a farm owned and operated by my father and I located in section 27 of Essex Township has a drainage outlet tile that goes North through land owned by Jeffery King. The proposed rail would travel over this tile and most likely crush it. It is my understanding that the rail developers are not committing to repair or maintain the tiles that the rail would travel over. Without this outlet much of our land would be saturated and become unusable as productive farm ground. This obviously would create an economic hardship for us. In addition, the township road that serves Mr. King’s home could quite frankly suffer from water that would flow off of my farm as the natural flow is to the North. The rail would become a manmade damn impeding the natural flow of water. I respectfully request that the Great Lakes Basin Rail be denied approval. I appreciate your attention to this matter and ask that you email me with any questions or concerns.
