I wish to voice opposition to the Great Lakes Basin Rail Line. This rail line could put into jeopardy our only drinking water sources. Since the surrounding area is all serviced by private wells with no other options. Changing water drainage or possibility of contaminating our water supply could leave us without viable drinking water for our homes and in my case my business. In the twenty years I have lived here road changes alone have caused many properties to have drainage and well issues. This very diverse community of farms and properties all have different well depths due to soil and sand conditions. The rail line could block natural water flow which then directly impacts our well systems. In the event of an derailment everything south of the rail line wells would easily be impacted and polluted. Once again I would like to explain we have no other options for water. Even our closest town of Lowell is all on a well system that one Great Lakes Basin Map was cutting right through. This is just one of the many environmental concerns I have. Please note that water is essential for life and not optional and keep that thought in the forefront of your decision. Thank you!
