The area of my concern is one mile east of the I-65 and State Rd 2 intersection. If you look at the area StRd2, Clay St. and 173rd Ave the route will create three crossings within one mile. This will seriously delay emergency vehicles trying serve the area, as well as school buses and regular traffic. Another problem is the area South of St Rd 2. Until the Grand Kankakee Marsh was drained that area was a swamp. I do not think the soil would support a rail bed. Last year 2015 a stone quarry was built in that area, the tracks will be within a few hundred yards of the quarry. They are blasting regularly at the quarry. If the water seeping into the quarry was contaminated it would be into the Kankakee River and into Illinois in no time because the quarry will be pumping approximately 17 million gallons of water per day into The Singleton Ditch that drains to the river.
