After spending the day outside with my two sons getting the yard and property ready for the summer, doing home improvements, planting trees, cleaning up the landscape, repairing still, after the tornado two years ago…etc….I think of a legacy….My husband’s legacy…he always wanted to live in the country, we bough this house along with almost 3 acres…out in the country, in Sumner Township, Grant Park., IL. He loved it here, even though he didn’t get to enjoy it for long….he died at 42 years old. This place is HIS legacy!!!!! He wanted to raise his family here! My family and friends still enjoy it here, it’s a sacrifice and a huge amount of work to live here…….How dare you try to take it from me??? How dare you, Frank Patton, GLB, Surface Transportation Board, County Representatives, anyone who is in agreement with this and/or ANYONE who tries to take someone else’s land for private gain or for the sake of Progress???? How dare you?? How dare you try to take what is rightfully mine???? Let me ask, how would you feel if everything you have worked for, of which I am not nearly the only one, businesses, farms, homes, lives, generations old farmland, were so disregarded to the statement/decision to say…. “We’ve decided, we will just put a railroad/rail yard through there” How would you feel??? Would you sit back and chalk it up to “progress”? Would you just give up everything you have worked so hard for? Would you give in and agree that someone has decided that my area needs to be changed, urbanized, developed, taken over, made to be something other than it is right now???? Please stop trying to take away this way of life, country living, peaceful living, hard working living …..away from us!!!!
