[Lowell] I strongly oppose the proposed GLBT route. The attached IMG 815 is looking south of my property on Belshaw Rd. The Conway Observatory is located on the horizon to the west, or right side of the frame. The track would run the width of the frame on the southern horizon. As you can see, the area to the east (left side) is very low-lying, and I believe was once part of the Grand Kankakee. This area is home to many species of flora and fauna. The buildup for the rail line would impede the flow of drainage to Spring Run Ditch, which is to the left of the frame. You can see the guardrail for the bridge over the ditch. Belshaw Rd. was once an Indian Trail, and Img 445 is a Native American artifact I found in my front yard. The integrity of the Buckley Homestead and the Conway Observatory would be compromised by the establishment of this rail line.Such important links to our past need to be preserved as teaching tools for future generations.
