ATTN: Dave Navecky - Docket No. FD35952 Surface Transportation Board Office of Environmental Analysis 395 E. Street SW Washington, DC 20423-0001 Mr. Navecky: I would like to express my concerns over the proposed Great Lakes Basin Transportation, LLC rail line project. I oppose the entire Great Lakes Basin Transportation, LLC rail line project and ask the Surface Transportation Board to deny the proposal. Prime farmland will be impacted by this project. Approximately 6,700 acres of prime farmland will be permanently destroyed by this project. Rail lines will bisect farms compacting the soil and decreasing productivity. As the owner of a centennial family farm, I am concerned that the rail lines will damage the tiles beneath the soil causing major flooding to crops. In addition, I am concerned that high speed train derailments will cause toxic chemical spills which will permanently destroy prime farmland and render the soil useless for crop production.
