I have concerns about the impact of the GLBR on the Biological Resources in our area. We live right next to a Wetlands Conservation area. Before our local farmer and friend Rich Kleist passed away, he arranged for a large portion of acreage to be set aside for conservation and preservation purposes. To our knowledge, no homes, subdivisions, or developments are allowed to be built in this area. The sign posted on this land says: Restoring America's Wetland Heritage Wetlands Reserve Program U.S Dept. of Agriculture Since the railroad will pass through about 1/2 mile away, I am certain the protected wildlife of that area will diminish. The construction alone probably will eliminate wildlife from the the wetlands preserve and the fish in the neighboring Crooked Creek. The idea of Stewardship for Future Generations" as the sign reads will never come to pass if a railroad such as the GLBR goes through this land."
