RE: Docket No. FD 35952 Environmental Comment The proposed rail line by Frank Patton and the Great Lakes Basin Transportation LLC destroys thousands of acres of highly productive farmland. This is farmland that provides income to the land owners and stimulates the economy of the counties and townships along the route as well as adjoining communities. The loss of this income will adversely impact these areas and cause a lack of growth and development that benefits these areas. No one wants to buy land next to a railroad track that has no intention of providing goods and services to these communities. Property values will drop dramatically and remaining taxpayers will have to pay more for necessary services. I am attaching a statement by the Kankakee County Farm Bureau that eloquently addresses the impact the rail line would have on the agricultural community in that county, but represents the other counties as well. If there is no need for this rail road and no carriers who are interested in leasing the completed rail line there should be no reason to allow the GLBR to build the line. There seems to be no genuine purpose and need for this to go forward. Therefore I am asking the STB to deny the project. I am also attaching a news story from the Wall Street Journal that address the lack need for the rail line to proceed. Patricia Mussman West Creek Township Lowell, IN 46356
