The proposed rail line would affect my family in the following ways: It will adversely affect our current transportation systems in that; It would cut my family off from the 2 closest hospitals. It would impeed me from getting to work. It would prevent my children from getting to school in a timely fashion. Many county roads used for farming may not have adequate crossings for farm implements and thus, the farming equipment will be forced to congest roads that are already busy. It will threaten my family's safety as we would cross the proposed tracks 14 or more times a week. A derailment will threaten our personal water supply, as well as the supply of the nearest town and the fisheries that are downstream. (Kankakee River) There is the biological resource of a quiet park we enjoy that will no longer be quiet. (Stoney Run) It will adversely affect the air quality of my living space. Our local library is likely to have unwanted noise and vibration, as well as a cultural and historic resource near the line (church). There is already a Class 1 railroad (Norfolk Southern) 7 miles to the south. Why not save time and money and use tracks that are already there? Please oppose the Great Lakes Basin Rail Line project.
