Dear Mr. Navecky, I would like to bring to your attention the proposed at grade crossing on North Boone School Road at about Mile Post 213.7. This is the main route used to get children from the town of Capron to the North Boone Upper Elementary (grades 5 & 6), North Boone Junior High (grades 7 & 8) and North Boone High School (grades 9-12). The buses travel across this proposed crossing at least 12 times per day. This route is used by all the students that drive from Capron to the high school for school, sports and various other activities. The potential for an accident at this crossing is higher than usual due to the type of vehicles and drivers using this road. If the railroad is approved it would be best if a bridge is built across the railroad at at this crossing. The GLB has proposed bridges at other crossings in the MP 210 to 220 section on roads with much lower traffic volume. It only makes sense to put a bridge on this road also. In fact it makes sense to eliminate as many at grade crossings as possible. At grade crossings are the spot that the public is most at risk to collide with or be hit by a train. This is a new project and this is the time to develop and put in safety features. Eliminating at grade crossings, especially when trains could be traveling up to 70 mph, would go a long way to ensuring the safety of both the public and the trains. Sincerely, Kathy Stefanelli
