I am opposing the Great Lakes Basin Rail Line due to environmental factors where I live. The construction of this rail line will interfere with water quality and habitat for our birds and wild animals. Additional railroad crossings and trains will make safety problems and travel delays for emergency responders, school buses and travel in general. There are generational farmers who will have their land disrupted and cause hardships on the families. Noise pollution will be created in areas where people chose to live in peace and quiet. This railroad is an attempt for certain investors to make personal gains at the expense of innocent farmers and residents who are just trying to make a living. For these reasons, I am opposing the construction of this railroad and know that the environmental impact outweighs monetary gains by investors who have no vested interest in the land they are disrupting.
