[Lowell] Surface Transportation Board, We are writing to you in regards to the proposed freight railroad by Great Lakes Basin Transportation (GLBT). We have great concerns about the Surface Transportation Board giving a permit to GLBT. We have yet to hear a need for this railroad. Who is going to use these tracks? Our understanding is there isn't a rail company who needs to use additional tracks. How can a private company receive a permit to use Eminent Domain? What about the rights of the property home and farm owners who will be impacted? As rural Indiana residents, we utilize well water. What happens if this rail carriers hazardous material, and there is a spill? All of us are without water. We don't have other options. We also have limited police, fire, and emergency services. How are we to cover the additional needs a new rail line will require? Who is going to pay for those additional services? Noise and vibrations is a concern as well. As rural residents, this is a big concern. How are our local schools to provide quality education with these distractions? We are asking that you do all you can to put a stop to the Surface Transportation Board giving a yes vote/permit to GLBT. Brian and Mary Dekker Lowell, IN
