I oppose the proposed GLBRL due to the destruction of the Conway Observatory and integrity of the Buckley Homestead, drainage issues, and risk of contamination of municipal and private wells. Thousands of volunteer hours have been logged to maintain the history of the Buckley Farm and educational experiences for children and adults. A preserved green space for future generations. The Conway Observatory is unlike anything available in Indiana and the Chicagoland area. It is dependent upon the stillness and unobstructive night sky. It's home is on the Buckley County Park, for just that reason. Such a learning experience for the citizens, all available by the generosity of the volunteers. The area east of the Observatory and Chase St., is very low-lying and marshy. In fact Spring Run ditch runs through it. It is home to many species of flora and fauna. Migratory birds flock there. Belshaw Rd. was once an Indian Trail and I have found many Indian artifacts on my property, one estimated to be 2000 B.C. I am concerned about the enevitable contamination to our wells, and the municipal wells of Lowell. I implore you to listen to those of us who have lived on this land for generations.
