Docket No. FD 35952 Environmental Comments I want to address issues of safety regarding the proposed Great Lakes Basin Rail Line. We are very concerned about the number of rail crossing on numerous primary and secondary roads and the volume of high speed trains that are projected to use the tracks. This will result in delayed response times for all emergency services, school buses and road maintenance vehicles. Lives and property will be lost due to the delays for ambulances and fire equipment. The people who will suffer these losses will primarily be taxpaying residents who fund these services. The rail road will severely hinder their access to the services they pay for to protect themselves. At this point there seem to be no good reason for this project to go forward since we have not seen where funding will come from nor do we know who will lease these tracks. Four major carriers have stated they have no interest in leasing these tracks or using them. If no one uses them, why build them and create serious safety problems for residents and traffic trying to use the roads. Patricia Mussman West Creek Township Lowell, Indiana 46356
