Dear Mr. Navecky: I've read a little bit here and there in my local paper, The Times, about the proposed Great Lakes Basin Transportation Inc - Authority To Construct And Operate A Rail Line In Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin -- STB Docket No. FD35952 and SUPPORT the construction and operation of the proposed rail line. I live in Illinois at the north end of the county where this new rail line is proposed to be built and TOTALLY SUPPORT the new rail line at the south end of Lake County, Indiana. The northern end of Lake County, Indiana is snarled by train traffic and has been for years. Not a day goes by that we aren't getting stuck in train traffic, or have to deal with the train horns constantly throughout the day and night, even so much as to wake me from a sleep -- and that's with the windows closed (and I live about a mile from the nearest crossing!!!!). South Lake County residents are all a bunch of protesters -- they protested a regional airport that was going to be built in Illinois at one time. They protested an expressway/toll road through their area because they said it would be noisy and there would be garbage all over. And now they are protesting the railroad. Rail traffic in south Lake County Indiana isn't going to bother anything -- except what? Ears" of corn -- because that's basically all that grows down there along with soybeans and a sod farm -- fields and fields of corn. I give my SUPPORT to this new rail line in south Lake County, Indiana. I say let everyone share in being inconvenienced -- whether by crossing gates or train horns! Sincerely, Kathy Smith Cook County, Illinois resident krafty23kathy@gmail.com"
