I am writing concerning the environmental impacts that will soon be seen next to my house. There is a nest close to my house in Boone County IL soon to be around where the Great Lakes basin railway will pass through about a mile. For these eagles maybe 4 miles of the proposed tracts. This is a beautiful mating pair and I would hate to see them leave or die due to the impacts of 100 trains polluting the area daily. I was wondering if there will be any sort of protection for these birds, yes they fall under the Migratory Bird Treaty. I will be scouting the are looking for other nests that may be destroyed during the construction of the train. I've already been in contact now with several researchers and government resources. This pair was photographed today 4-17-16 by Mike Deisinger On a more personal note I've spent thousands of dollars on my animals and livestock, the impact of the air and pollution they will be exposed to? They inhale toxins the same as a human, the noise is another concern. I'll have a bunch of ornery restless animals with trains passing through the area polluting the fields (which the 200ft margin will disrupt the field tiles leading to more flooding). Along Denny road and Marengo road lies some of the lowest ground in Boone county, the roads sometimes are covered by water, what will keep the tracks from washing out? Oil will be spilt polluting the local water ways (which the Eagles live and fish...) They survive on the healthy Eco system we have in Boone county. Thanks Amanda VerHagen 8650 Loveridge Rd.
