[Clinton] We live in Bradford Township, Rock County WI. The great Lakes basin rail line is proposing a route that passes parallel to our land anď is less than a mile as the crow flies. We disagree vehemently with this decision and today I will address environmental concerns. We have spent the last 26 years improving our property. We planted 3000 trees and hundreds of native shrubs and grasses to create habitat for Wild turkeys, deer, foxes, river otters and deer. We built habitat for fish native to turtle creek and the rock river. Migrating cranes, ducks, geese, great white owls stop at the creek and feed in the corn and soybean fields both spring and fall. Herons (that are particularly sensitive to noise) nest all along Turtle Creek. Eagles have been nesting along the creek for the first time in 50 years..and using a ten mile span for hunting. We know this because residents along the creek are very proud that being good stewards of the land has enabled eagles to return and thrive. For the sake of a railroad you expect us to give all this up? We created a private, quiet sanctuary for ourselves and the wildlife that call Bradford Township home. If we had signed up for all the noise pollution these trains will produce, we would have built our home under the interstate highway where land is dirt cheap...which is what the value of land will become with trains running through here all the time. You are destroying the way of life, the enjoyment of life for a train that will make it easier for some unknown entity (not negatively affected by the destruction of land and habitat) to more quickly move freight to chicago?????? e
