They have had only self imposed deadlines. The communities, consisting of the people most affected by this proposal, have been given no such opportunity. We have been granted just a 60 day period during which to voice our concerns. There are two problems here 1. There was no concerted effort made to inform the people in our communities of this enormous GLB proposal in a timely fashion? This has resulted in many people being totally in the dark about the GLB project even now. 2. In spite of the lack of outreach by either the STB or GLB we are given only 60 days to respond. The GLB project is immense and no such project has been undertaken in over 100 years. How do you expect people in our communities to comment on it if we are not given ample time to research it and discuss how it will affect our lives? That simply is not reasonable or even a serious attempt to get well reasoned comments. Further more, this comment period happens to coincide with the busiest time in a farmer's life, planting time. Farmers have the most to lose if this project were allowed to go any further. They did not ask for this, why should they be expected to take lots of time to research this project now, while their presence in their fields is critical. Critical for their income and critical to maintain your food supply. Our lives have already been negatively impacted by the GLB project. The playing field is not at all level, just like you, we have families, jobs, responsibilities. Already GLB has altered our lives because now we have to make time to think about, learn, and research all the effects this proposal will have on our personal lives as well as the life of our communities. We did not ask for this. Mr Vanecky, there is no need to rush this project, it is not a project in the public interest. Therefore I respectfully request that you will allow us to do our due diligence and extend the comment period for 90 days, from May 16, 2016 until August 16, 2016 at a minimum. This seems like a very reasonable request under the current circumstances. Sincerely Mirjam Melin 8608 East Rye Drive Clinton, WI 53525 Sent from my iPad
