From: Lisa Fleming <flemingfeed@gmail.com> To: david.navecky@stb.dot.gov Date: 04/07/2016 03:48 PM Subject: Concerns on Great Lakes Basin Railroad Mr. Navecky- I write this email in reference to the Great Lakes Basin Railroad and the environmental issue I see. We farm in Lee County, Illinois and the proposed railroad would cut through a large field that we farm. This field has been deemed highly erodible decades ago by Lee County Soil and Water, a government agency. It contains terraces and small bodies of the farm land are supposed to be farmed a certain direction, and only minimal tiling is allowed. We abide by the plan because we know environmentally it is the right thing to do to preserve precious fertile soil, and protect the water basin that surrounds this farm. We take our job very seriously. If this railroad cuts through this field, I am not convinced the land will not erode and cause great havoc in preserving the precious topsoil, which will end up in the waterways. I worry that the years of work we have put into this land will be erased even before the first train cuts around Chicago. I feel this railroad has not taken seriously the environmental impact on the soil and the watershed in our area. This project will effect the area for many years to come. Thank you for your time, Lisa and Greg Fleming 9805 Tower Road Lee, IL 60530
