[Cato] Farm land and National Security Issues The proposed GLB railroad will take at least 6700 acres of prime farmland out of crop production. How will we feed the world by 2040?" No Farms. No Food. No Future. There are plenty of existing and abandoned railroads already in Indiana , Illinois and Wisconsin that can be used and upgraded. Farmers and land owners in Rock, Boone,Ogle,Lee,Grundy,LaSalle, Winnebago,Kankakee, Lake, Porter and Starke counties of Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana do not want to sell their land or they would already have a for sale sign up.Offering $20,000/ acre of electricity usage is a total INSULT !!!. This would be farm land sold for Industrial purposes, which is in the triple digit numbers. Please protect these farmer's legacy of land to pass on to their children and grandchildren. It greatly bothers me that this project in volving FOREIGN INVESTORS would own a corridor of prime farm land across three states. This is a threat to our national security! It could be made into an airstrip before a train track is even built;it could be resold to anyone or any country; who is responsible for upkeep repairs or accidents or oil or chemical spills? This could be an open door for foreigners to get anywhere unchecked throughout the country. Please stop this GLB rail project."
