I'm opposed to the rail line for these reasons. 1.impact that it would have on our schools. I'm a school bus driver the crossings concern me greatly. We try to eliminate rail crossing if we can. At times the lights don't work correctly or trains are stopped blocking the cross ways. Also the children that walk to school are greatly at risk. We are a rural community so the bus routes are long already as much as an hour and a half. Children are sitting on the bus already add train stopped blocking cross and u add another twenty to thirty minutes which has happend to me numerous times in Griffith Indiana. Our buses do not have air conditioning special needs children do not understand when it's ninety degrees out side it feels like a hundred and ten sitting in the bus. Try it in your car some time with the windows half way down but they are above your head and sit on a road sun beating down and your stuck there. Also with the tracks so close to the school the noise will set off special needs children to scream because of loud noises. The children with ADD will even have a harder time concentrating. 2. We have so much problem with drainage all ready with roads flooding. Also against the law for an Indiana school bus to travel through standing water. 3.Buckley homestead is a county park and learning farm. 4.Impact it would have on our homes value. 5.The acreage it would take out of production agriculture that feeds the people in the world. Pretty soon we keep taking acreage out of production we will be getting all our grains from China. Thank you for your time.
