I'm concerned with the safety of the private crossings proposed when fields are divided. The railroad divides my field on 450 S. in two. Over half of the remaining acres are landlocked. Many years at harvest the soil is not firm enough to support a truck so they have to be loaded on the road. Without access to the road with the combine, we will have to use a grain cart hooked to a tractor to move grain from the combine to the truck. On an average year it would take 8 trips to shuttle the grain over the tracks. That is 16 times to cross the tracks. I also have a job off the farm so a lot of farming is done at night. It scares me to think I have to cross that track, in the dark, with no warning gates, with the possibility of trains moving 70 MPH.
