Environmental impact on south Chicago rail route. 1. All homes in the area are on ground water and run the risk of getting contaminated with chemicals. from leakage from the train engine, rail cars, and there hazardous cargo. There is the chemical that the railroad company uses to kill the weeds along the tracks that will also impact the well water. There is risk of train accidents with spillage and tankers are not 100 percent leak proof. 2. On our family farm the creek behind us was declared wet lands to preserve wild life. The family was unable to farm, cut wood, or disturb this land in any way. Now all of a sudden some one comes along and said there going to but a rail road through there? How can that be? The land was to preserve wild life. 3. We must preserve our water now before we will not have any more clean water to drink or to take a bath in, this time is coming soon! We also need to protect our wild life on the farms and the farm ground before it is too late. So please stop this train from going though Kankakee county and my family farm before it is too late and the land will be ruined forever! Thanks John Brinkman.
