While I am not opposed to the idea of such a rail line, I see no detail of what sections of the rail will have underpasses or overpasses for vehicular traffic. This is not simply for convenience, but for safety. Based on the frequency of trains and the certainty that trains will occasionally be stopped on the tracks across roads (this happens daily in our area), important roads, such as Rt. 49 in Indiana, which are a direct route to the hospital, would be blocked. I would also imagine the road such as Rt. 30 and Rt. 2 in the same area would be critical in emergencies. Furthermore, the desire to avoid poor soil areas is based on cost savings for the company building the rail and would not benefit the farmers (which constitute almost the entirety of the route). Poor soil areas would be ideal for the building of the rail line, as they would be unsuitable for farming. I see a clear profit motive for the company building this rail line, and I understand it, but I fail to see any benefit whatsoever for the farmers who live along your proposed route.
