Reference: Docket No. 35952 For the attention of Mr. Dave Navecky: Dear Sir, I am writing in reference to the proposed Great Lakes Basin Rail Line and the impact that it would have on students who attend Lowell Middle School and Lake Prairie Elementary School. I have examined the plans, and I am well-aware of the areas that it would encompass. I strongly oppose the development of the new rail line for a number of reasons, but I will focus on the problems that it will and could possibly cause if it is approved. My stepdaughter attends Lowell Middle School, and I am greatly concerned about the impact that it would have on buses, student pick-up, and the level of noise that it would generate. Even with safety gates and other necessary precautions in place, it would put those schools at risk. If a derailment of hazardous material ever occurred, hundreds of students and faculty would have to be evacuated. The Town of Lowell is not equipped for an emergency of that magnitude. Sincerely, Pete Dalessandro
