[Valparaiso] Dear Surface Transportation Board, looking at the current path of the proposed railroad by the Great Lakes Basin Railroad it is apparent that the chosen route places an unfair burden on the family farms of this region as opposed to corporate farms. As we have seen in the past, family farms have faced tremendous economic pressures to abandon their farms and give in to a quick monetary gain verses longterm stability. Most family farms locate in the exact pathway GLBT has chosen as it's path. This is because family farms need yo locate close to metropolitan areas in order to reduce travel costs and have a viable market in close proximity. This rail line carves a a path through the very fields that define income from loss. I don't farm but I admire the integrity of the people who face the challenges of weather, futures pricing, and the whim of the changing world around them. As I see it, it is a noble venture and this project places them, once again in an unfair disadvatage. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
