The proposed Great Lakes Basin transportation rail line will cross farm land and their field tiles and drainage systems. If a rail line divides a farmer land, how will the farmer be able to get to his other field with his farm equipment? When Great Lakes Basin builds tracks and foundations is there any guarantee they won't break the field tiles? Will Great Lakes Basin be responsible for the cost if they do? If the south Lake county drainage system is interfered with to the Kankakee River, farm fields will become wet lands. In case of a toxic chemical spill near a farmers filed, that field will be unusable. Is it worth the risk to our farm land when there alternative routes? Across Lake Michigan for example.
