I am writing to voice opposition to the Great Lakes Basin Railroad, and to urge the STB to deny their request. In our area, there are numerous abandoned coal mines with underground shafts. The proposed route goes right through these abandoned shafts, causing me to question the viability of construction. These shafts are in the area of Verona, IL and South Wilmington, IL.
