I am writing to express concerns in regard to the construction of the Great Lakes Basin Railroad, in regard to transportation of students to classes at Morgan School. I teach special needs children at Morgan and several of my students have to be bused in from other schools. Travel time on buses will be increased due to some 'anticipated' road closures and, of course, due to passing trains. It is difficult for these children to just sit calmly and wait, strapped into their seats, for lengthy periods of time as a train passes by. When these children experience anxiety, change in routine, increased 'wait time', it often ramps them up into full meltdowns. While that is horrible for the screaming child, it is even worse for the driver who has to remain focused and controlled to deliver children safely to school. I ask you to please think about where this railroad would run, how often trains would pass, how many crossings there would be, etc. all along our school route. This will definitely increase travel and wait times for special needs children who do not handle this well. For our sake, please compassionately consider this impact.
