I think it is so important to decrease the pressure on highways, as costly and inconvenient repairs as well as the dangers of heavy truck traffic make it expensive and difficult for people to drive on the interstates. If safety measures are in place, I think train lines are extremely important and should be increased whenever possible. Personally, I have significantly decreased the trips I have taken into Chicago and to Wisconsin in the past five years due to construction and heavy truck traffic, and I have often thought of how these issues could be relieved if more trains were in use.
