I am strongly opposed to the GLB RR project. I am a farmer and landowner in rural Lee, IL. Our farmland is not undeveloped", it is carefully managed farmland and it is our source of income. It is wrong for one private individual to take our property without consent for personal profit. I am also very concerned about the undue burden this rail line would place on our volunteer fire departments. With the sheer volume of projected rail traffic, derailments are a mathematical inevitability and by their own admission the purpose of the line is to carry hazardous material. A train derailment and resulting fire could easily destroy the landowner's entire crop and source of income before the fire department could assemble and arrive on the scene.
