The Great Lakes Basin Railroad needs to be opposed. The line will impact the surrounding farms negatively. Fields will be dissected by the tracks, field drainage tiles will be blocked, creating wetlands, and many road crossing will most likely be closed due to the cost of building a Railroad Crossing, which the Indiana Department of transportation indicates costs $250,000 per crossing. GLB will not be able to afford to give every existing road a crossing as the cost is too great. The lack of crossings will force farm vehicles onto more traveled roads, increasing traffic congestion and the risk of accidents. Please oppose this rail line.
