The Great Lakes Basin Railroad proposal should not be supported. The line is not energy efficient and will just be moving existing trains to a new location, there does not seem to be a plan to improve their efficiency or the pollution the existing trains produce. This is a bad plan because it is just moving existing problems to a new location and not solving a problem. The harm to the environment is too great to allow this track to be built. The tracks will block waterways, create marsh lands, hinder animal migration, and impede the comeback of many endangered species in Illinois, like the Wild Turkey.
