I oppose the Great Lakes Basin Railroad proposed route from La Porte, Indiana, to Milton, Wisconsin. The many major public environmental issues which will affect my farm in Grundy County, Illinois include: possible derailments of freight trains hauling hazardous materials which would lead to toxic chemicals in the soil, disruption of water flow and tile damage which causes flooding of our farmland and loss of fertile top soil. The Tesdal Farm in Grundy County, Illinois, is a centennial farm which was purchased by my Great Grandfather Chris Hendrickson in the 1890s. It has been farmed by my Great Grandfather, Grandfather, Father and brother for over 100 years. My farm will be bisected by the Great Lakes Basin Railroad route. Everyone in our community will be impacted by the inability of first responders to travel to emergencies. The community will be exposed to excessive noise, noxious odors, and intrusive bright lights throughout the day and night. Please stop the Great Lakes Basin Railroad project from being constructed on valuable Illinois farmland which will significantly impact the corn and soybeans production on this farm because large areas of the corn and soybean fields will be rendered useless and permanently destroyed. Please vote to stop the entire Great lakes Basin Railroad construction from La Porte, Indiana, to Milton, Wisconsin and the destruction of valuable farmland in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan.
