FD 35852 · CANAVERAL PORT AUTHORITY - PETITION FOR EXEMPTION TO CONSTRUCT AND OPERATE A RAIL LINE EXTENSION TO PORT CANAVERAL, FL

Comment EI-20807

Received or sent (printed as 12/18/2014)

Mr. Dave Navecky, I am submitting my strong objections to the Canaveral Port Authority's proposed diesel cargo rail being built through the Indian River Lagoon, North Merritt Island, and the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. The obvious environmental damage this will cause is beyond words. We have spent thousands of man-hours and millions of dollars protecting and restoring the lagoon and our critical wetlands that feed the aquifer. A railroad is not compatible with the surrounding environment or population. Please consider the recommending the appropriate route of the SR 528 Causeway that already exists and would facilitate Orlando International Airport and Florida East Coast Railway access. If that alternate route is not acceptable, then please recommend the no action" alternative for this project. Thank you, William J. Hillberg"
