FD 35852 · CANAVERAL PORT AUTHORITY - PETITION FOR EXEMPTION TO CONSTRUCT AND OPERATE A RAIL LINE EXTENSION TO PORT CANAVERAL, FL

Comment EI-20693

Received or sent (printed as 12/8/2014)

Dave, I live in the nearest development to the proposed rail system on Merritt Island, Savannahs. This rail extension would be less than a mile from our development as well as a new development nearby. The sound would significantly impact our peaceful community. In addition, there are many species of animals that are in that area that would be impacted, including a bald eagle. The KARS park that will adjacent to the rail hosts sports, camping, and other recreational activities that would be adversely affected. As a retired NASA employee, I was aware of an alternate proposed years ago that looked into going up Cape Canaveral and going west parallel to the NASA causeway, utilizing some existing rail. Suggest you make sure this concept has been revisited. Thank you for considering my comments.
