FD 35852 · CANAVERAL PORT AUTHORITY - PETITION FOR EXEMPTION TO CONSTRUCT AND OPERATE A RAIL LINE EXTENSION TO PORT CANAVERAL, FL

Comment EI-20692

Received or sent (printed as 12/7/2014)

My husband and I oppose the proposal to extend the rail line down Through Merritt Island to the Port. Although their may be needs, other alternatives farther north should be explored. The county and government have extended extensive money into cleaning up the Banana River lagoon over the next 10 years and this goes directly against that effort. There are also additional safety issues bringing this railway so close to residential areas when there are other alternatives. Please explore the northern route to the port that keeps it away from residential areas and lessens the impact to our environment, keeps our recreational areas and safety.
