The scale of the combined trash train, landfill, ethanol plant, and treatment plant is far too great for this region, especially with the proposed roads to move among these facilities. The site in Rush Township is too close to a beautiful state park, Black Moshannon State Park; especially with the threat to the groundwater and streams in the park and surrounding state forest. The number of possible new jobs is far to few to justify the great environmental impact. With a vacation home near the state park, I have seen a resurgence in the use of the park and the state forest. The train and the rest of the project with irreparably damage this renewed resource. The very real possibility of Marcellus shale exploration combined with the landfill, trash train, and treatment plants will overwhelm the region as a great natural resource.
