9/27/2010 Danielle Gosselin & Vicki Rutson Surface Transportation Board Section of Environmental Analysis Environmental Filing FD35116 Dear Danielle Gosselin, Vicki Rutson & STB : Please do not approve the Trash Train to the proposed dump in Black Moshannon in Central Pa. This entire dump project being located here is contingent on this railroad line of garbage being permitted. This dump is being proposed as an economic benefit to the area (maybe for the private landfill company), but to the residents of this region it is viewed as an ecological disaster. Transporting toxic garbage from out of state to and through this pristine area via railway is a moral and ecological nightmare. This is our shared watershed for the entire Centre Region. Although the business folks and politicians might think this area is undeveloped, this land has been developed and preserved for camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and boating. This area is a haven for the remaining bears, deer, eagles, bobcats, birds, and other forest creatures. It is full of Indian relics and is a sacred and holy land to many of us who live or visit here. Building a railroad to build an intrastate dump (again a private company from outside the area who bought the land under questionable circumstances) to encourage this type of long distance transportation of highly questionable toxic trash is an ecological and security threat to the preservation of many species including humans. I am surprised that the current Chesapeake Watershed Restrictions allow this to be even considered placed in the heart of the woodlands that protect our water. Please stop this insane plan of building a trash railroad to a current non-existing dump. We need to consider the big picture and respect the area’s real need, which is to develop green energy to preserve our precious water and forests. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Pat C. Corey
