Comment EI-9400

Received or sent (printed as 8/28/2008)

As a resident living within 1000 feet of the EJ&E tracks, the increased rail traffic volume would affect both noise levels and nearby grade crossings. However, alleviating the rail congestion in the Chicago metro area far outweighs any personal inconvenience. Rail is three times more energy efficient per ton mile than trucks. Improving the rail system is far less costly than the cost of improving the road system to accommodate the equivalent volume of freight traffic.
