I am emailing to register strong opposition to the proposed acquisition of the EJ&N railway by Canadian National Rail. I do so as both a resident as well as a small business owner located in the Barrington community of Deer Park. It is beyond comprehension to understand how this acquisition has been allowed to proceed this far. Though all of the areas surrounding, and along, the routes that will be impacted by these trains have traffic congestion, there is none so severe as the massive, prohibitive traffic problems on Rte 12 and Rte 14, and all of the other feeder roads that populate these two major arteries. Without question, traffic congestion/problems are just one of many dangerous and onerous reasons to stop this acquisition. Hard to believe that regulation of inspections for railway cars/companies is so lax -- particularly in this day and age of random terrorism acts. I learned of this only thru the information provided by the Barrington Chamber coalition against the acquisition. Good, bad or indifferent, there still is a great lack of organinzation/initiatives in place between communities to handle/manage the results of a terrorist act. For these, and many other reasons too numerous to mention, I strongly urge you to stop this acquisition. With sincere appreciate, Candace M. Renwall
