Regarding the proposed purchase of the EJ&E railroad by the CN railroad. I feel that this if this purchase will invoke a major hard ship for communities along the tail line. This is not only from an environmental standpoint put also from a quality of life. Most communities along the rail line have expirenced a major growth population over the last 20 years and with that growth comes more homes along the rail line and more auto traffic. I realize that the CN has experienced major traffic congestion in and around the Chicago area were they currently operate. However mover there operation onto the EJ&E tracks will only cause congestion elsewere. People that have moved into the Chicago area a least had a choice to not move into an area that has major rail road congestion. I don't believe it is fair to thrust this kind of rail congestion, noice, and danger onto the many communities were people have moved to try and avoid this type of situation. The rail line as it sits today receives approx. 5-6 trains per day. The proposed purchase by CN will bring possible over 20 longer trains per day. I dought very much that CN would be willing to may the many millions of dollars that would be needed to improve the rail line and put in the necessary over passes and noise reduction systems at the grade crossing. In summary I fell that this move by CN will not only create an un safe condition it will also put a stop to the economic grown the areas that border the current EJ&E rail line have worked hard to develope over the last 20 years. I trust this sale will not be approved, and the CN will also not be allowed to rent the EJ&E line as well.
