The proposed purchase of the EJ&E Rail line by CN is a horrible idea. The impact on people who live near the line will be very negative. The trains that currently go thru the area blow their horns at all times and our houses shake. If CN is able to run their trains that will not only increase but there will be other issues as well. The traffic will be backed up and make our commute worse. If we need medical help that time will be delayed cause of the trains. If we need the help of the police that can also be delayed. More trains will go thru the area, dropping the value of our houses since people are not going to want to buy a house that close to a loud and busy set of tracks. We will be unable to keep our windows open when the weather is nice cause of the train noise. And the additional pollution from the engines will hamper our neighborhood with the smell of disel fuel from the engines. The congestion that CN reports that will be saved in and around the city of Chicago will be short lived, some other train will asorb that time and run their trains thru those tracks so there will be no benefit any way you look at it. I would like for the people involved to come by our houses and see how it is to live by the train tracks. IF more train traffic is allowed to go thru it will have a very negative impact on us all.
