I am writing to express my strong support for the CN acquisition of the EJ&E Railroad. Not only would this purchase be good for our regional economy and environment, it would be a tremendous benefit to residents of the city who have long borne more than their fair share of the burdens of our region's economic activity. Suburban representatives have recently held hearings and introduced multiple pieces of legislation aimed at blocking STB approval of the deal. This would have the effect of suppressing interstate commerce. If allowed to proceed, this acquisition will improve service to large and small companies across the Midwest and throughout the nation, relieve serious rail congestion and bring significant economic and environmental benefits to the Chicago region. I encourage a vote in support of regional economic growth and a better environment. Please approve the CN acquisition.
