I am opposed to the acquisition of the EJ&E Railway by the Canadian Railway Co. because the additional rail traffic will further aggravate an already bad highway traffic situation in the area and cause accident rates to be higher. The additional rail traffic will also delay emergency vehicle response times and access to the Good Sheppard hospital in the area for many patients The acquisition will also lower our property values and also lower our standard of living because of increased noise and vibration levels. Another reason for my opposition is the possibility of accidents when transporting hazardous goods through highly populated areas
