Many citizens around Frankfort will be fighting the expansion of CN along the EJ&E railroad lines. And for many reasons. My main concern is how this proposed project" will actually help the Transmodal terminal being discussed in Lockport. Just down the road from where I live. With the I-355 extension now in place, the future seems to hold extreme traffic congestion for the communities of New Lenox, Homer Glen, Lockport and Lemont. All of which the citizens currently living here do not want. The proposed truck and train traffic increases are not accpetable. Regardlesss of what the "experts" are forcing us to listen too, the added air and noise pollution are not what we all moved out here for. We cherish our air quality. We do not trust what developers are telling us will be "acceptable" wetlands reductions. It is the opinion, and wishes, of many of us citizens that we simply do not want to have more traffic going thru or even near our quiet communties. I would also add that the idea of more hazardous material traveling near Homer Glen is not a pleasant thought! If I wanted to live near train tracks, I would have move near them. But since I knew what I wanted to avoid, I, like many other citizens, moved out here. It simply is not our problem CN wants to take another route thru this area. So rest assured that many of the citizens within this area will be flooding the offices of all our elected officials expressing our views. Home Glen has a rich history of taking tough stands on environmental issues. The environmental impact more trains traveling thru and near Homer Glen will not be accepted. It is not a matter of what is "cost effective" for shippers, but rather what is environmentally acceptable for our community! Respectfully, Randy Juras"
