After spending nearly 43 years in the railroad and railroad products business, I can fully appreciate the impact this form of transport has on the national ecomony. Rail is more vital today in terms of energy consumption and price. The CN proposal to acquire most of the EJ&E is a reasoned approach to improve transport efficency and to help in relieving the rail gridlock in the Chicago region Communities have co-existed with railroads for several decades, and I'm sure the naysayers of the CN-EJ&E transaction,if approved, will learn to do the same thing. The propsed legislative bill by Rep. Peter Roskom, R-Ill to limit a portion of the EJ&E line to commuter transport and restricting additional freight traffic is anti-commerece at best. This is also an affront to the STB which is the lawful agency to preserve interstate commerce. I urge your approval of the CN-EJ&E transaction in an expedited fashion. Thank you.
