I am writting to express my deep safety and environmental concerns for the Barrington, Illinois area should the Canadian National Rairoad be allowed to purchase the Elgin-Jolliet and Eastern Railway which runs directly through our area. The anticipated increase in freight traffic is 22 plus freight trains daily. You should be aware as well that the tracks cross all three major roadways within a quarter of a mile of each other. These roads are Route 14 which runs from south-east to north-west, Route 59 (Hough Street) which bisects the Village of Barrington and runs north to south and Lake-Cook Rd. which bisects the village again and runs east to west. While the daily inconvenience is bothersome enough, the potential for the hinderance of lifesaving equipment is frightening. Please do not choose Canadian commerce over well being and safety of our citizens and most especailly our children. Most sincerely yours, Roger Tatum
